Managed by U CRE8 The world premiere of Middlesbrough-born, award-winning composer Alfie Thomas's virtual rock opera RAM Wednesday, June 30 2010 . With funding support from Arts Council England and Middlesbrough Council RAM (Random Access Memory) follows the birth of the Internet and tells of its power to make people rich beyond their wildest dreams using song and fantastic animation techniques to carry the story along. The innovative production will be set against a backdrop of multi-level stages and a large projection screen backed up by four plasma screen desktop monitors. A hundred-strong chorus will join a cast of nine uniquely talented performers - singers and multi-instrumentalists - plus a live rock band for the performance.RAM Producer, Brian Wise said: There is something for everyone in this rock opera. The story is brilliant and the music is a fantastic mix of electronic, rock and the operatic, teamed with an exciting sound track you would usually hear in a blockbuster movie.It will be a totally new visual experience for local and regional audiences with digital animation and projection, puppets as well as stunning effects, costumes and sets. RAM composer, Alfie Thomas, formed 'Alfie's Glue Ear' in 1997 ,a company that produces music for film and television. He has won international awards for composing music for advertisement, film, TV and multimedia.His work includes music for Royal Mail, Sony, Specsavers, and Kellogs advertisementsIn 2004, Alfie composed the music for the film 'At Dawning' starring Jenny Agutter that won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. He also wrote music for critically acclaimed films 'McLibel' (critics' choice for music, New York Times) and the climate change blockbuster 'The Age of Stupid', which was released worldwide in 2009 starring actor Pete Postlethwaite. | ||
